The Cyrillic initialism "kuzov universal" (nyy nulevogo (normal) nogo) gabarita, lit. "universal body of zero [standard] dimension," is translated as "KUNG" in English. A standardized military vehicle module/trailer system was known by the Soviet (and later Russian) designation KUNG.[1]
The most popular basic frame-metal body-van is made of steel angles and angle bars, with aluminum sheets for steering on the exterior and impregnated varnished plywood on the inside. Insulating foam fills in the spaces between the sheathing panels. Everybody, regardless of specialty, has access to lighting, heating, ventilation, and ceiling lights in their homes.[1] The GAZ-63, ZIL-157, GAZ-66, ZIL-131, KamAZ-4310, Ural-375, and Ural-4320 chassis may all be equipped with KUNGs. Standardized versions of the same products and equipment are used for many vehicles.
KUNG body type: made of metal and wood, insulated, sealed, heated, and intended for staff placement, repair shops, electronic systems, medical facilities, etc.
Informally, the phrase is also used to describe camper shells, which are an add-on fiberglass or metal top for non-commercial cars.
