Guide to Chickens in FS25: an easy way to make money
Do you want to earn startup capital in Farming Simulator 25 without any worries? Raise chickens! The breeding process is fairly simple, and they regularly produce a high yield of eggs that can be offered for sale ready to eat or put into production to get even more.
How and where to buy a chicken coop?
First, it is necessary to construct a hen house. In order to do this, one should go into the building menu, animals section, and select chickens in the list of animals.
Here you will be presented with several types of coops that vary in capacity:
-
Small coops hold between 20 and 31 chickens.
-
The largest option has a capacity of 360 chickens.
Choose the right one based on the size of your farm and capacity. For example, small coops are ideal for compact farms, while large coops are ideal for larger projects. Note that you cannot change the size of the coop, nor can you add the ability to walk the birds.
We recommend you to read the guide - “How to use the construction mode in FS25”.
Buying chickens
After setting up the chicken coop, the next step is to purchase the birds. In the game you cannot transport chickens yourself, so you will have to buy them from resellers. But keep in mind that you will be charged a delivery fee. This is the only way to buy chickens in Farming Simulator 25.
How to buy chickens in FS25:
1. Each chicken coop has an interactive area marked with a paw icon. Walk up to this icon and press the key to open the menu (on PC - R).
2. You can select young hens (0 months old) or adult hens (6 months old) that will start laying eggs immediately.
3. Chickens can be bought in batches, filling the coop to its maximum capacity.
Note that there is a decorative rooster in the game. It is not necessary to buy it - the hens will breed and produce eggs even without it.
Caring for chickens
Chickens are probably the most unpretentious animals in the game. You don't need water or bedding to keep them. All that is required is feed. This is one of the most effective ways to accumulate starting capital in the game. But still chickens require food, so there will be some expenses in any case (albeit small).
What to feed the chickens
Three types of cereals are suitable for feeding:
• Wheat.
• Barley.
• Sorghum.
Barley is recommended as it gives the highest yield at a low cost. If you don't have the opportunity to grow grains, feed can be bought at the store, but it is much more expensive.
How to load the feed
Each coop has a designated feed loading area marked with a bag icon. Drive the tractor with a trailer full of grain to this area and unload the feed.
Typically, a large coop will hold about 8,000 liters of feed, enough for several days.
Breeding and productivity
Hens start breeding and laying eggs as soon as they reach maturity. An adult hen (6 months old) produces one brood per day if there is space in the coop.
If the coop is full, no new hens will come in until you sell some of the stock. To keep track of your birds, go to the animals menu, where you can see their health, performance and feed levels.
Getting and selling eggs
The main product from the hens is eggs, which automatically appear in a designated area next to the hen house. Egg crates can be collected and sold or used for further processing in production buildings (e.g. for baking cakes or making noodles).
How to sell eggs
1. Find the best deal on eggs in the price section.
2. Transport pallets of eggs to the specified point of sale.
In a normal economy, you can get about $2,000-$2,500 for a pallet of eggs. This is a fairly profitable process, especially with high volume production.
Recommendations for saving money when raising chickens in FS25
1. Self-growing cereals. This is the most efficient way to provide food for chickens.
2. Buying young chickens. Young chickens are cheaper, and by raising them to 6 months of age, you will get productive stock with minimal investment.
3. Optimize the size of the coops. Choose the capacity based on your needs: for small farms you should not buy huge coops.
Raise chickens in Farming Simulator 25, because it's one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to make a profit in the game!
