If you’ve read our article on increasing yield, you probably already know that mulching is one of the ways to achieve better field productivity in our favorite simulator. But for those who aren't familiar with the previous article, let's give a brief explanation. In FS25, mulching allows plants to absorb more nutrients and protects them from the harmful effects of the environment.
For this purpose, organic plant residues are crushed to fine particles using special equipment. The crushed plant particles are fermented in the soil and naturally fertilize it.
Here we will consider in detail all the stages of mulching and reveal all the nuances of this process. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get started right away!
Equipment for Mulching in FS25
To carry out soil treatment using this method, you will, of course, need specialized equipment. These tools for agricultural work are called mulchers. They are special attachments that can be connected to tractors, allowing them to quickly grind up leftover plant stalks after the previous harvest.
Without a mulcher, you won't get anywhere. So, first of all, make sure to visit the agricultural equipment store, go to the soil treatment tools section, and buy a mulcher.
Tip: To open the shop, press the P key. Also, keep in mind that you’ll need to reach the store building to pick up your purchased equipment.
Attaching the Mulcher to the Tractor
You have purchased the necessary tool, but it needs to be attached to the tractor. The mulcher can be attached to both the front and rear of the tractor. It can be connected in either way.
You can even buy two mulchers and install one on the front and the other on the rear to increase the efficiency of field mulching. However, in most cases, one is enough.
Step 1: Get into the tractor. To do this, approach the driver’s door as closely as possible and press the E key.
Step 2: If the machine does not move, start the engine. It is sufficient to press the Enter key.
Step 3: Drive up to the mulcher either forward or backward. Make sure to align the tractor's hitch and the mulching equipment. Approach very carefully. It is important that the tractor's hitch is aligned with the attachment point of the mulcher. Only after this alignment can you attach the equipment by pressing the Q key on a PC, the square button on a PS5, or the X button on an Xbox (control settings may vary).
Done.
How to Mulch Fields in Farming Simulator 25
Now, we’ve come to the main part—the mulching instructions. Don’t worry; it’s so easy that even a child could manage it. Your equipment is fully ready for use, and you should head to your field. Important: The field must be owned by you in order to work on it.
Have you reached your field in need of mulching? Great. Now, position yourself at the edge of the field where you want to start. It’s best to start from the very edge, moving in a straight line from start to finish. Once you reach the other side, simply turn the tractor around, move away from your starting point, and continue the process.
Before doing so, you need to lower the equipment—usually, this is done by pressing the V key on PC, the circle button on PS5, or B on Xbox. Pressing this button lowers the plow, cultivator, or any other equipment attached to the tractor.
Important: It’s crucial to lower and activate the mulcher; otherwise, the soil treatment won’t start, and you'll just be driving around the field for nothing.
Well done, you’ve lowered the agricultural tool. Now, start driving the tractor forward and follow the procedure we discussed earlier.
That’s it! As you can see, mulching in FS25 is incredibly easy! It helps avoid penalties in the game for not treating the soil and increases yield by 2.5%.
However, mulching isn’t mandatory. You can skip it and just lose a bit of profit. If you own a large number of fields, it's better to focus your efforts on more efficient ways to increase income. Mulching is only beneficial when you own one or a few fields.
