Fertilizers in FS25: Types and Why They Are Needed?
In order to get the maximum yield from the fields in FS25 you need to fertilize the fields.
But what fertilizers are available in FS25 and what is the best way to use them. This is something you need to understand in detail! Therefore, in this guide we will tell in detail about each type of fertilizer in Farming Simulator 25, consider all their pros and cons.
Solid Fertilizers
A fairly economical option for fertilizing fields, as it does not require the purchase of expensive application equipment.
You only need a spreader, which costs much less than any sprayer.
For this reason, solid fertilizers are recommended for early use when your budget does not yet allow you to invest in expensive equipment.
Features of solid fertilizers:
- Supplied in big bags or on pallets.
- Do not require costly equipment for application—an ordinary fertilizer spreader, which is relatively inexpensive, will suffice.
- Available under the "Yield Improvements" section in the "Consumables" category.
You can buy this type of fertilizer both in palletized containers and in bigbags. It all depends on the quantity you need.
Solid fertilizers are excellent for increasing the yield of fields at minimal cost. They are especially used in the early stages of the game, as they are quite cheap.
Lime
In Farming Simulator 25, lime can also be considered a fertilizer since treating your fields with it contributes to yield improvement.
You can buy lime in the "Consumables" category within the "Yield Improvements" section of the agricultural store in the game.
Cost of lime:
-
Lime purchased in large bags costs approximately €450 each. One bag holds 2,000 liters.
-
Lime on pallets is priced similarly—€450 per pallet with the same volume.
To apply lime to your fields, you’ll need a spreader designed for solid and dry fertilizers.
Important: Not every spreader can work with lime. Look carefully whether it can work with lime before buying this tool. If you do not know which lime spreader to buy, you can use Bredal K105, it can work with this type of fertilizer. Look for it in the store, under the category - “Fertilizer Spreaders”.
Using lime will improve the yield of your fields, thereby increasing your future income.
Digestate
When you sell manure or silage at a biogas plant, you receive a by-product called digestate. It is an excellent option for improving soil fertility. To apply digestate, you will need a slurry tank.
This is a cost-effective method of fertilizing fields in Farming Simulator 25, as you don’t need to purchase either fertilizers or specialized equipment for its use.
Manure
If you keep livestock, this method of fertilization is ideal for you. You won’t need to buy expensive fertilizers since you can use what nature provides.
Just load the manure that cows, pigs or other animals produce and use it to fertilize your fields.
Keep in mind, in order to get manure, it is mandatory to make a straw bedding to the water where the pets are placed.
Since it is a natural product, it is not harmful and is very effective for fertilizing.
Spreading the manure is done with special spreaders, which are also sold in the store, in a category we have already mentioned more than once in this article.
Cover Crops (Oil radish)
And the final fertilization method in our article is cover crops, such as oilseed radish.
Essentially, this agricultural crop doesn’t bring any direct benefits—you can’t harvest or sell it. However, if you plant it, wait for it to grow, and then cultivate the field, it will significantly increase your crop yield. By using this method, you effectively fertilize the deeper layers of the soil.
Afterward, you can plant any seeds you want because your field will already be fertilized!
It’s worth noting that while this method is free, you’ll need to wait until the oilseed radish fully matures before cultivation. Otherwise, if you cultivate the field before it ripens, its use as a soil fertility enhancer will be pointless.
When to Fertilize Fields in Farming Simulator 25?
This question deserves special attention, as fertilizing a field at the wrong time will yield no results.
It is recommended to fertilize fields no more than twice per season. Additionally, you should wait for at least one growth stage of the crop between fertilization applications. The most effective approach is to fertilize the field before planting and after the crops begin sprouting. However, fertilization is also allowed at other growth stages.
If you are fertilizing grass, multiple applications are unnecessary—one treatment will suffice.
That concludes our guide. We hope you’ve learned something new about fertilizers in Farming Simulator 25 and can use this knowledge to boost your crop yields.
