In Farming Simulator 25, straw is a by-product that can be used on the farm for animal bedding and for sale. Producing straw is not a complicated process, but it requires a certain understanding of the game's mechanisms and the right choice of crops. To begin with, you should know that straw is formed only when harvesting three types of cereals: wheat, barley and oats. Other crops, contrary to popular myths, do not produce straw - this has been confirmed by game tests.

To get straw, you need to wait until the full maturity of one of the suitable crops, and then start harvesting. In this process, you will need any combine harvester with an appropriate reaper. Before you start harvesting, it is important to activate the straw ejection function.



After activation, during harvesting, a straw mass will emerge from the rear of the combine in the form of a long strip on the ground - this is the straw swath. This is different from the swaths left by grass cutting or crop swathing (crop swathing), so do not confuse the two - straw and crop swath are different resources.

If you do not activate the straw ejection function, the combine will simply chop up the crop residue and discard it, leaving no harvestable material. So if your goal is to get straw, make sure the function is activated before you start harvesting.

Once the crop has been harvested and straw windrows have formed, the next step is to collect them. There are two main ways to do this: using a forage wagon or baling.

 

With the first option, you pick up the straw with a trailer, turning it into bulk material that can be stored in a hay loft. A hay loft, placed as a separate building, allows you to store both hay and straw (but not grass), and is convenient for future use.

If you choose to bale, an appropriate bale machine - square or round - will be required. Once the machine is selected, it needs to be lowered and activated. As it moves across the field, the baler will collect straw and form bales. Square bale wrappers are convenient because they do not require stopping when dropping a bale, while round bale wrappers require manual unloading. The bales can then be transported using specialized forklifts or bale trailers available at a hardware store.

All straw collected in the field - whether in bulk or in bales - can be used on the farm for animal husbandry, particularly for bedding cows and pigs, or sold for profit. This makes it an important resource, especially at the start of the game when every source of income counts.

By making sure that you follow all of these steps, you are guaranteed to have a useful and profitable resource when playing Farming Simulator 25.
