The renowned International Harvester XL series, which was well-known in the 1980s for its sturdy design, exceptional comfort, and longevity, includes the IHC 1255XL through 1455XL.
These tractors were manufactured from 1981 to 1996, first by International Harvester (IHC) and then by Case IH after their acquisition.
Strong six-cylinder diesel engines with displacements ranging from 5.9 to 6.6 liters were a defining feature of the 1255XL and 1455XL models (as well as the lesser 1055XL and 956XL versions). One of the most powerful conventional tractors of its era, the IHC 1455XL was the top model in the series and generated around 145 horsepower.
